Introduced by the FIT (Fédération internationale des traducteurs) in 1991 and recognised by the UNO General Assembly in 2017: The International Translation Day. It is held on the holiday of St. Jerome, the patron of translators. He is known for translating the Bible in the 4th/5th century.

Every year, translators and interpreters celebrate with various activities and call attention to their work.
